ABOUT ME
Hello hello! You've found the portfolio of Keola Silva - Game Programmer, RPG lover, and GameBoy Advance era apologist.
I have a soft spot for games from decades ago and their experimental yet refined approach to fun. As a result I've developed a fondness RPGs, narrative-focused adventures, turn-based tactics games, and really anything that doesn't require a high resolution to be pleasing to the eye. That isn't to say I don't have the same level of appreciation for modern games, though! Things I like to do when I'm not staring at a screen:
My motivation for working in games has a lot to do with the following statement: Games are fun for everyone, first, foremost, and forever. It's awful that video gaming, in some circles, is rife with gatekeeping and other social issues that are against the above statement. Knowing that my work can help gaming stay fun and accessible for all is what gets me up every morning. My recent work with 22nd Century Toys has been paramount in accomplishing that mission. Career
Currently employed at 22nd Century Toys in Austin, TX! I'm responsible for a great deal of port work there, working closely with publishers like Devolver Digital and Finji to port their published titles to various consoles and mobile platforms. Recently, I've had the pleasure of being the port lead on numerous titles like Death's Door, I Was a Teenage Exocolonist, and GRIS.
Before 22nd Century Toys I was working with Thorrnet Games and Johnny Dale Lonack as a QA Analyst on Griefhelm. And before that, I was studying Computer Science at Auburn University, from which I graduated in 2019. There, I helped found, promote, and nurture TigerDev, a game development club with a large focus on garnering hands-on experience for its club members via semester-long projects. I'm always working on side projects for fun. Feel free to check out my Side Projects or my Professional Work. |
