 HyperType

HyperType is a typing survival game, where the player must type words corresponding to falling objects to stop them from reaching the bottom of the screen. This was a submission for an assignment for an undergraduate game design course.

I wanted to create a simple and streamlined version of a typing game that challenged the player to type awkward and unfamiliar strings of letters. Since typing is mostly muscle memory, these strings would exercise a player's mechanical skill with a keyboard. The game is slow and easy as it was designed with a younger audience in mind.

Gearheads 3v3

Gearheads 3v3 is an online multiplayer game I'm developing within the ROBLOX engine. The game uses weapons players can get from the ROBLOX site, which are audited at the beginning of my game for balance. Players will split into teams and vote for their favorite stage, and then have five minutes to battle their opponents using loadouts of items they strategically select from their inventory.
 The following has been developed:
  • Players can choose a team and vote for a map. The server auto-balances teams and loads the appropriate map.
  • Inventory and loadout interfaces have been developed, and players can send their loadouts to the server.
  • Game session management (resolves the conclusion/start of matches).
  • Two maps.
  • Database of balanced items that are allowed into the game.

Development for Gearheads 3v3 has stopped. You can play the game in its current state here, although you won't get too terribly far. Keep an eye out for development progress on my blog.

Interning At Storyforge

This was my entry into the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Computer Game and Simulation Programming State Competition. The purpose of the game is to educate the player on a basic level of some of the different roles in the game development industry.

Interning at StoryForge won first prize.

House Invaders

House Invaders was my final assignment when I took Introduction to Computer Logic and Programming through dual-enrollment in high school. This was a solo project, and I received full credit for the assignment. It's basically a faster-paced Space Invaders clone where you must defend mice from reaching your side of the house.

Controls: Left and Right controls the player, Z will fire pellets at the mice, X will fire a lightning bolt. The lightning bolt has a cooldown.
